Pokémon Monomyth Trading
Pokémon Monomyth is a free ROM hack of Pokémon Emerald by Team Monomyth, set in the Athanto region and released on October 30, 2026. Trades go through Celio Link, not a normal link battle.
The nine steps
- Open Celio Link and stay on Online Emulator Link.
- Choose mGBA, the only supported entry, and download the script.
- Install the Windows, macOS, or Linux build. The macOS build ships inside the Linux download. On Linux, mark the AppImage executable.
- Open the special mGBA and choose Tools, then Scripting. The release tag is mGBA Celio Edition 2.0.0.
- Load the .lua file that came with the client.
- Allow the browser to reach the app. The page should show Server status: Connected.
- Load the Monomyth ROM. The .sav must share the folder and the base name. A .srm can be renamed for the trade and renamed back.
- Both players stand at the Link Trades counter in a Pokémon Center. Press Start on the webpage.
- Press Disconnect when the trade finishes.
Limits that are written down
- Story Pokémon and some items can be refused.
- “Can’t handle it yet” is a level, badge, or story gate, not a dead connection.
- You cannot trade a starter that is not yours.
- On hardware, use two flash carts and a GBA link cable. The wireless adapter is incompatible.
- Athanto Colosseum on the Showdown page is under construction. Late 2027 is a note, not a date I am treating as locked.
If it will not connect

Questions
Can you link battle in Pokémon Monomyth?
No. The link page says the battle engine changed too much. The planned substitute is a QR export into Athanto Colosseum, which is still under construction with a tentative late 2027 note.
Does it trade with Emerald or Ruby?
No. The official link page says it does not connect to retail Generation 3 games.
Can two phones trade?
The published method is a desktop PC, the Celio Link site, and the special mGBA build.
