Pokédex: a new regional roster
The official homepage says over 360 new and returning Pokémon. DexDB’s community roster counts 361, split into 232 new and 129 returning species. These are two publishers, but the precise split belongs to the database alone. The count is not a claim that Monomyth contains every main-series Pokémon. Use the filterable Pokédex for individual rows and starter comparison for the opening choice.
Soundtrack: more than 200 original tracks
Team Monomyth advertises 200+ original soundtrack tracks on its homepage and in the launch trailer. Because both publications are from the same team, this is one publisher’s feature claim. It describes the music collection, not the number of towns or hours in a playthrough. The official blog credits the sound team, while the planned Collector’s Edition is not treated here as a currently available soundtrack download.
Moves and abilities: a combined 50+ claim
The launch trailer’s 50+ figure concerns new moves and abilities together. It should not be expanded into fifty new moves plus fifty new abilities. The official trailer is one publisher’s claim; the cited feature copy does not provide a full itemized list. Individual boss move lists in the walkthrough show some of the battle vocabulary, but they do not prove the total or define every custom effect.
Coats: variation within a species
The official “thousands of coats” line describes color variety, while DexDB counts coat-capable species and possible combinations. Its census is 348 of 361 species, with the highest count assigned to Venggal. These quantities answer different questions and remain attributed separately. A coat is not a numerical shiny rate. The coat guide explains the database’s Color Variants and shiny distinction without inventing a hunt multiplier.
Contest Halls: an official named facility
Contest Halls appear in the official homepage and trailer. That is one creator publishing the same feature across two formats. The accessible feature description does not establish ranks, locations, move-scoring rules, or prizes, so no Emerald contest walkthrough is copied into this entry. The wiki records the facility’s evidence status; the documentation directory provides the official sources for later rule updates.
Trainer Hill: present, with rules unspecified
Trainer Hill is explicitly included in the official feature list. Its shared name with a retail-game facility does not verify identical floors, timers, rewards, or access requirements. The homepage and trailer remain one independent publisher. This overview therefore records its inclusion and leaves those finer rules unspecified. Use the wiki’s Trainer Hill entry and progression-source index to keep a missing route distinct from a known boss team.
Battle Frontier: official feature and database location
Battle Frontier has both an official feature mention and a community location entry on DexDB. The research snapshot lists twenty-two wild rows and seven item rows there. Those are database records, not a complete list of facilities, rewards, or unlock conditions. The two publishers confirm the name in different contexts. No retail Emerald Frontier challenge format is assumed; consult the source directory for future Monomyth-specific detail.
Multiplayer: asynchronous features and trades
The homepage distinguishes asynchronous multiplayer features from link-cable trading. The official trade guide gives a concrete Celio Link route using a desktop computer and special mGBA client, but explicitly excludes link battles and retail Generation 3 compatibility. Those game-specific rules remain one official publisher’s account. Start with the trade procedure; the save guide explains the file-naming requirement before moving progress between setups.
Post-game and side quests
The trailer describes an expansive post-game, and the homepage advertises dozens of side quests across Athanto. These are official scope descriptions from one team, not a checklist with verified completion percentages. A boss index sorted by level cannot establish which fights are optional or when every quest opens. The walkthrough’s source index keeps unknown prerequisites visible rather than inventing a route to satisfy the feature wording.
Trainer AI: rewritten battle behavior
The trailer advertises rewritten trainer AI. The official hjk321 introduction further credits luckytyphlosion with simulation-driven trainer AI and battle improvements. Both are the same publisher, so this additional detail does not become a second independent confirmation. It gives a reason to examine actual moves and team composition, but it supplies no measured win-rate or difficulty multiplier. The boss chapters label tactical interpretations separately from the published team data.
Length: preserve different completion scopes
The box artwork describes a 70+ hour narrative, an official programmer introduction calls it a 75-hour game, and a GameRant developer quote describes a 100+ hour full clear. These refer to different statements and completion scopes, so there is no averaged “official length.” They also do not predict an individual run. The release record keeps the launch chronology separate from estimates of how long the adventure lasts.
Price and distribution: a free patch
The official About page describes free distribution as an Emerald patch, and the FAQ says the team does not sell the game or accept money for the project. These pages have one publisher. The official download is not a standalone retail game or an APK: it patches a legally obtained Emerald copy. Follow the patch guide for file sizes and validation, then select a listed emulator.
Against Emerald
You still patch an Emerald ROM, and the output is a 32 MB GBA file. What changes is the region, the dex, the coat roll, the nature screen, and the trade client. Retail Generation 3 carts do not link. If you wanted Hoenn’s gym order, this is the wrong file.
Questions
What did the launch trailer promise?
Over 360 Pokémon, 200+ tracks, 50+ new moves or abilities, thousands of coats, Contest Halls, Trainer Hill, Battle Frontier, asynchronous play, link-cable trades, a post-game, and rewritten trainer AI.
How is this different from Emerald?
New region, new species mixed with returning ones, a coat system, a custom nature screen, and no link battles. The base is still Emerald’s engine.
